The doctors and staff at Alpine Animal Hospital are committed to your pet's health and well being. We are a full-service animal hospital whose mission is to provide affordable and high quality veterinary care for the animals in the greater Corvallis area.  


Alpine Animal Hospital has been a Corvallis fixture since 1970. The clinic is located in the scenic hills of North Corvallis on Highland Drive, just north of Crescent Valley High School. A highly qualified staff of three doctors, certified technicians and assistants is prepared to accommodate your veterinary needs. 


Alpine Animal Hospital is a mixed animal practice, providing care to companion animals as well as farm animals. Our full service clinic offers a wide range of services ranging from routine examinations and surgical procedures to emergency care.

  • Dr. Bret Hixson

    Dr. Hixson graduated from Iowa State University in 1977. Dr. Hixson gained much of his early experience while growing up around his family's working cattle ranches in Colorado and Eastern Oregon. Dr. Hixson remains an avid horseman and enjoys team roping and mounted shooting in his spare time.


    Dr. Clark and Dr. Hixson purchased the hospital in 1989. Dr. Hixson has strong commitments to the Corvallis area.

  • Dr. Dale Clark

    Dr. Clark is a 1985 Oregon State University graduate who grew up in Corvallis.  Dr. Clark'™s early veterinary experience came from following his father, also Dr. Dale Clark, who practiced veterinary medicine in Corvallis for many years.  Many of our clients today remember a young Dr. Clark 'assisting' his dad.


    Dr. Clark and Dr. Hixson purchased the hospital in 1989. Dr. Clark has strong commitments to the Corvallis area.

  • Deb, CVT

    Deb comes to us from a position at the OSU Large Animal Hospital. Deb has always had an interest in medicine, and worked as an EMT before becoming a certified veterinary technician.
    Deb is our country girl; she lives on a cattle ranch and loves taking care of the herd. Also at the ranch are her dogs, horses, and chickens. In her spare time Deb enjoys riding her horses, cross-stitching, and reading.

  • Heidi, CVT

    With over a decade of experience in the field of veterinary medicine, Heidi joined Alpine Animal Hospital in 2018 as a certified veterinary technician. 
    Heidi is also a talented and devoted endurance athlete, and cherishes her daily long-distance runs.

  • Chelsea

    Chelsea volunteered at animal shelters throughout the Portland area while earning her undergraduate degree at PSU. After graduation she found that veterinary medicine was a perfect fit, and now loves the exciting and fulfilling work of being a veterinary assistant. Chelsea specifically enjoys learning about animal behavior and helping to calm patients who are anxious in the hospital setting.

  • Brooke

    One of Alpine’s most experienced veterinary assistants, Brooke graduated from LBCC in 2017 with an Associate's degree, as well as certificates from the Veterinary Assistant and the Radiology Safety programs.
    Brooke and her husband have three dogs, Chandler, Agatha, and Bjorn, who share the house with two Bearded Dragons, two ducks, one tortoise, and numerous fish and aquatic frogs!
    A long-time reptile enthusiast, Brooke enjoys studying reptile health and behavior and plans to one day specialize in reptilian and amphibian rehabilitation.

  • Krystal

    Krystal's compassion is a large part of what makes her such an excellent veterinary assistant. Working with animals from a young age in her hometown of Central Point, Oregon, Krystal developed a solid foundation of respect for all animals; big or small, she loves them all!
    Krystal is currently finishing her undergraduate degree in biology at Oregon State University, and plans to become a veterinarian in a mixed-animal practice.

  • Taylor

    Taylor, one of Alpine's newest veterinary assistants, joined the practice in February 2019. Taylor is currently working toward earning her Bachelor of Science degree in zoology at Oregon State University.
    Taylor loves all animals, and is specifically passionate about wildlife medicine and conservation. She hopes to become a certified veterinary technician in wildlife medicine, and work in elephant rescue and rehabilitation.
  • Allie

    Allie is a talented veterinary assistant, skilled at handling patients both large and small. An experienced equestrian, Allie has earned accolades as both a rider and a handler. In her free time Allie enjoys spending time with her dogs, and working with her horses.
  • Brianna

    Brianna has been with Alpine for nearly two years, working first as a kennel attendant and now as a veterinary assistant. Brianna is incredibly compassionate, thus, able to make the most nervous patient a bit more comfortable. Now in her third year of her pre-vet degree, Brianna will soon apply for vet school with a goal of earning her DVM.
